Hi my name is Sammy we are doing black history in class. We been watching the movie a Race to freedom. It was a good movie to it was two days long. It was about the under ground railroad. And we did a project on slaves. If slaves tried to run they well catch them and break their ankle. Then we talk about MLK and his wife today I learned some stuff that I didn't no about I been in MLK house and church.
Hi Sammey,
What you describe about slavery (breaking someone’s ankles because they ran away), I get a really awful picture in my mind. And your example is only one of the atrocities of slavery.
I wondered-- what made the movie good? Is a movie a good way to learn about slavery? Do you think it will keep people from acting in those ways again?
Best,
Lani
