Hi, my name is Fred and Iam a junior in high school. Right now i am in an intro to teaching class and basically we are learning how to teach kids of different age groups.I am the only male in the class, and i am in here because i am thinking about pursuing a career in coaching. Next semester in this class we are going to go down to an elementary school to interact with different children. If i had a choice in grade level i would choose older children. i really can't wait because i think it would be alot of fun.
Hey Frederick! I have a bachelor degree in Health and Physical Education and taught P.E. at the elementary level for two years before becoming a technology specialist. I loved teaching P.E. and coaching but decided to take this new opportunity and change careers. I had a lot of friends in college who just knew they wanted to work at the middle and high level, but then fell in love with the students at the elementary level. Who knows, after working with the younger kids next semester you may have a change of heart? Regardless, I admire your goals and ambition. Children of all ages need good male role-models as both teachers and coaches now more than ever. Remember to keep an open mind and to work hard!
What sports would you like to coach?

In our school we don't have a coach instead we have a P.E. teacher. In P.E. we sometimes use a heart rate moniter or a pedomiter. When we get 10,000 with the pedomiter she gives us a charm.

Fred,
What a fantastic career choice! There are not enough men in the classroom.
Make a difference for all the children you will teach and coach.
Good Luck,
Esta

Hi, Hillary i'm glad that you acknowledged my post.I like a lot of sports but their is just one sport that I fell in love with and that is football. It is a great sport, the reason that I say that is because I have played it since I was in the second grade. The sport teaches you to be tough and it also teaches you alot of responsibility and team work. I would love to coach a sport that I enjoy and make a difference in a childs life while coaching it.

Hi Diana I hope that they let me work with older children too. I have nothing against younger children I just perfer to work with children that are a little older. I'm really looking forward to second semester when we actually get to go down to the elementary school and interact with the children.
