Omani Topeka, meaning "hello to all "
Hello and thank you for reading this weblog about black history. Black history is really a powerful time of the year because we are studying about how our ancestors risked their life for todays generation so we can live together in peace.
It's not really so long ago since it was Martin Luther King day.
I like the idea of studying Black History. I agree with your reasons, and it's so good to think about your ancestors in this way. Did you know that in Africa people do still worship their ancestors? Even if we in the West may look down on it as primitive, I think it is a most powerful idea.

Hi Jonathan,
Marahaba! That is Swahili for thank you (for your greeting). What language is your greeting to all of us? I couldn't find it on the Internet.
Your post really made me think about the power of studying a complete American History that includes contributions of all of our nation's peoples. When students recognize that power and the reason for it, as you do and state so well-- "our ancestors risked their lives for today's generation so we can live together in peace."-- I get goosebumps. Thanks for reminding me of that.
Best,
Lani
