Intro to teaching

Hi there guys!

This is my first post on the web blogs.  My name is Katie. I am 18 years old.  I like to play soccer and hang out with friends.  I consider myself a student athlete.  I am active in my church and enjoy doing many different things.  I love little children and the thought of being able to have an impact in someones life really excites me.  That is one of the main reasons that I decided that I wanted to be a teacher. 

I am in an introduction to teaching class. The reason that I decided to take this class was because I would like to pursue a teaching career.  I plan on going to college that has a good teaching program and graduate with my masters. I want to major in early childhood education, with hopes of teaching third of fourth grade, and minoring in secondary education with an emphasis on math. My long term goal is to be a principal of an elementary school. 

We have learned many things in this class. We have learned how to be open minded to people who use a different side of their brains.  We learned that there are different types of learners and as a teacher you need to be able to teach in different styles.  We have learned that as a teacher you have to roll with the punches.  You may have one schedule and so many things start to stray that you need to just be able to go with the flow. 

Next semester we will be in the classrooms at different elementary schools.  I do not know which grade I will be in, but I hope to be in second or third grade.  I can't wait until next year to start helping in the classroom.
