Hi there guys!
This is my first post on the web blogs. My name is Katie. I am 18 years old. I like to play soccer and hang out with friends. I consider myself a student athlete. I am active in my church and enjoy doing many different things. I love little children and the thought of being able to have an impact in someones life really excites me. That is one of the main reasons that I decided that I wanted to be a teacher.
I am in an introduction to teaching class. The reason that I decided to take this class was because I would like to pursue a teaching career. I plan on going to college that has a good teaching program and graduate with my masters. I want to major in early childhood education, with hopes of teaching third of fourth grade, and minoring in secondary education with an emphasis on math. My long term goal is to be a principal of an elementary school.
We have learned many things in this class. We have learned how to be open minded to people who use a different side of their brains. We learned that there are different types of learners and as a teacher you need to be able to teach in different styles. We have learned that as a teacher you have to roll with the punches. You may have one schedule and so many things start to stray that you need to just be able to go with the flow.
Next semester we will be in the classrooms at different elementary schools. I do not know which grade I will be in, but I hope to be in second or third grade. I can't wait until next year to start helping in the classroom.
Katie,
You certainly sound like you have a plan that will bring you success. The decade between age 16 and 26 is the most important one in anyone's life. It sets the stage for success or failure for the rest of your life. Having goals like you do will certainly serve you well.
I hope you will enjoy the next semester when you are in teh classroom.

Katie,
I am impressed that you have already learned two lessons of such importance. I wish that when I began teaching I had already know how to roll with the punches and to celebrate the diversity of strengths among my students. You are off to a great start!

Katie,
You will bring an energy to your students that is very necessary with younger children. I think your involvement with academics as well as athletics will help the students identify with you. The broader your own vision the faster you will capture the hearts of the students.
Good luck,
Esta

Susan,
yes, we have moved very quickly in our lessons. This is partially due to the fact that we have a wonderful teacher, Susan Stamps!
