Last week when we got back from winter break my class found out what teacher we would be working with at a local elementary school and what grade we would be working with. My teacher is Ms. Anderson and I work with first graders. The next day was our first day at the elementary school. When I first got there the teacher introduced me to the students and then she had the students introduced themselves. It was so cute because they were so quiet and shy. Then all of the students have to go reading class, so most of the students leaves while other students from other classes come in. When I first walked into the classroom I noticed that it was very bright and had a lot of posters all over the room. I also noticed that the teacher had labeled a lot of things so that the children would know what it is and also how it is spelled. Whenever I arrive at the school in the morning the teacher usually has things that she wants me to do. Some of the things that I have done so far is grade papers, organize papers, get their homework together, print out their spelling word for the year and print out worksheets that go along with their spelling words. So far I like the grade I'm working with and I hope to get to have more time actually getting to work with the children by the end of the year. If anyone has any advice working with young children I would really appreciate it.
