Hi Timothy,
Your thinking that a weblog is a good way to "get out" some of the things that are important is right on target!

I have to admit I don't know anything about your favorite music, so I went to Amazon.com and listened to some of Insane Clown Posse, their "The Calm" CD. It's very different from the jazz that I listen to. You are lucky to be able to participate in your music as you play your bass guitar!

I am interested in your comment that you are an anarchist! Can you tell me why you don't believe in government and laws?

Best,
Lani

Timothy,
Government seems to be another set of rules and regulations to me.
Tell me why you are an anarchist?

Tim Merritt

Hi, Tim - another Tim here. I wanted to play bass when I was in high school but I never practiced, so I never played very well. Glad you keep with it. I have always liked John Entwistle of The Who - awesome bass player, but the music may be more mainstream than you like. If you want, read about him at this link on the BBC's website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/classicpop/reviews/johnentwhistle_anthology.shtml.

I also want to know more about your appreciation of anarchy. It has appeal as an idea - how can it work in the world?

Keep on blogging....

Timothy - this weblog will be a great way for you express your interests and ideas. I can tell that you have lots of ideas and opinions that need to be heard. This is your chance to have a voice! I can't wait to read more of your posts.

Timothy

Lani, you asked why I don't beleive in government. The reason I don't is because the government favors the rich. Also once you get tagged as someone with a record then your life really starts to slowly go down the drain. Then their is war. I don't think that america's army was sent into Iraq to flee the people. It was one of the reasons but the main one was that they wanted the oil. This country is all about money about 9 out of 10 people will do just about anything for personal gain. Thats also the same with the government. Those are only a few of my opinions. So get back to me when you can.

Esta,
There are alot of things the government keeps from all of us. They are not that open to the public because we think we won't be able to handle alot of the things that we need to know about. The government also lies to us alot about stupid stuff. People that lie to you don't deserve your trust. So thats why I'm an anarchist.

Hi there Timothy,

Thank you for taking time to voice your opinions. You’ve listed a number of ideas! I’ll try to let you know my thinking on just one. By the way, I was just thinking. Is it because of our Bill of Rights in our Constitution that we are able to comment so honestly on our government?

You mentioned that government favors the rich. I think many people agree with that comment and I know I sometimes feel that way too when I sit down to do our taxes in March, but then I try to think of what our government does for me, things I couldn’t personally afford to do. And I can definitely say that we are NOT rich!! :-) We had over 150 inches of snow last winter. I sure was glad our township government was there to plow the roads. I wouldn’t have been able to get around. That’s only one small example. Another example might be that when my husband became disabled, the government made sure that he received a monthly disability check for income. Disability checks are provided to persons across the country that have worked and become unable to work. They are many people’s only source of income. Of course, it would be nice if the check was bigger, but our government distributes the money based on the contributions they made while they were working. I remember too from my days in the classroom that the government also supports children who are handicapped or whose parents are disabled.

My saying this doesn’t mean I feel the government always acts fairly, but I do feel our government works to help all of us, even those of us who are not rich. I wonder if you can think of examples in your life or the life of your family when the government provided a needed service. I am very interested in your thinking on this!!

One last thing I was wondering about -- can we believe in government but recognize its failings and work to make it better within the system? You really have me thinking!!!

Best,
Lani

You can't make the government promote equality. It NEEDS a poor class to survive. Anarchy would be a better solution. Go to http://spiltanarchy.livejournal.com/ if you'd like more information about anarchy.
